Renewable Energy Sources at

Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU)

JCSU currently has three renewable energy sources on campus,

each are interconnected to the Duke Energy power grid.

Our sustainably designed and constructed New Science Center building, erected in 2015, has a 3.5 kWdc solar panel array installed on the roof.  We also have a 2.4 kWdc wind turbine system installed at our Sustainability Village urban farm.

New and Upcoming
Clean Energy Projects

Through a multi-partner collaboration, we recently installed a 23,750 kWh solar array at our Sustainability Village urban farm to power our most new 8,600 sq. ft. greenhouse. Read more about this project here: https://renuenergysolutions.com/renu-johnson-c-smith-university/

We are currently in the planning on the installation of two level II EV charging stations (pictured below) on campus capable of charging four electric vehicles.
