Bryan Patterson PhD is an Assistant Professor and Chair of the Public Leadership Studies concentration in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Patterson has taught and developed courses in both the graduate and undergraduate levels with a primary focus on leadership studies and development.
Current research interests include individual and organizational leadership, change management, and social entrepreneurship development in nonprofit and community organizations. His most recent publications include the “Influences of Student Organizational Leadership Experiences in Agricultural Students Leadership Behaviors” in the Journal of Organizational Learning and Leadership. His national presentations include: “Community of Change: Agricultural Leadership being developed through Community Involvement and Service Learning,” presented at the annual Tobias Leadership Conference and “Creating Knowledge That Counts—The Metropolitan College—Pathways to Leadership & Diversity” presented at the annual conference of American Association of Blacks in Higher Education.
Previously, Dr. Patterson served as an assistant professor/undergraduate coordinator in the Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications program at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He has also served as an assistant director of career development and career counselor/CHAMPS life skills coordinator for the University Athletic Association at the University of Florida.
